Tobacco is a green, leafy plant that contains a chemical called nicotine.
It is dried, ground up and used in many different ways.
It can be chewed or sniffed.
It supports a billion dollar industry.
When tobacco burns, thousands of chemical substances including 40 known cancer causing substances like carbon monoxide and nitric oxide as well as trace amount of cancer causing radioactive particles are released.
Constituents
Tobacco plant grows like other plants only. But, tobacco contains almost 4000 chemicals, naturaly occuring in it. Among these some 2000+ has been prooved poisonous for us.
Nicotine, Cadmium, Acetic Acid, Butane Methanol and some paints are some of those 2000+ harmful constituents.
Nicotine is a different chemical. This chemical is responsible for addiction. Also it is the only most harmful ingredient in Tobacco plant.
Effluents
Tobacco upon burning releases several gases. Theses are again harmful to us. Some amog those are Carbon Monoxide, Nitric Oxide, Hydrogen Cyanide, Ammonia e.t.c.
A recent study states that when we consume tobacco in any form, only 30% of the content exits our body. The rest 70% is absorbed by differnt organs of our body leading to many health risks.
